I think
the Samoan people were faced with many challenges on the idea of art. The fact
that war was such a big issue in Samoa limited the masterpieces that could have
been made. The inhabitants had to reinvent the form of art that was being
created. The weather was also a negative factor making the climate for
adaptability, flexibility, and creativity very difficult. Materials were very
hard to keep in good condition for this reason. So even though the Samoan's
agency was to try and preserve art from past generations, the factors around
them were limiting the work quality. This made it hard for Samoans to keep art
in good condition for the generations to come.
